I really don't think this dude was trying to kill himself, he was probably on a head full of acid and went through a bad thought process and at the end he came to the conclusion that jumping would solve something, so he said fuck it and went.

There's a band called Swell Season, the couple from the movie Once. Somebody killed themselves by jumping onto their stage from a roof or something at an outdoor concert last week. The jumper landed right next to the main guy between songs. Maybe you know about this.
Another reason not to tour.
The Jones Beach jumper survived, extent of injuries unknown, though his reputation within the Phish community is certainly shot.
