I really want to tell you what Phish has been up to these last three weeks (they just wrapped up their fall tour last night (& with a surprise Halloween cover of Little Feat's Waiting for Columbus, a big disappointment for fans who expected A Night at the Opera, OK Computer, Physical Graffiti, Appetite for Destruction, Live Dead, or Thriller but a way better artistic move for 100 reasons; never heard the original, but the music feels like the Band or NRBQ (Page's newfound blues growl on words like "put your money in the meter babe so it don't run down/cause you got me in a squeeze play on the Jesus side of town"))) but I'm not sure I understand it yet. I usually like to dance at shows but I hardly moved at Manchester, just watched with my mouth open.
"Whatever turns the soul inward on itself, tends to concenter its forces, and to fit it for greater and stronger flights of science." (Edmund Burke, preface to the second edition of A Philosophical Enquiry into the Origin of our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful, 1759)
